Assign User Licenses

Overview

AddressTools is a managed package, so after installing it in production a package license must be allocated to each user before they can access its features. Assigning Permission Sets on its own is not enough: a user with the right Permission Sets but no license will still be unable to use AddressTools.

This guide explains how to allocate licenses and what else a user needs in order to use the interactive features.

Note: In a sandbox environment this step can be skipped, as a site license is applied automatically.

What the License Covers

A license is required for every standard Salesforce licensed user who needs AddressTools, as the license covers all package functionality.

Note: To use premise-level address verification you must also have purchased verification lookups separately.

If the Licensing & Lookups tab in AddressTools Administration cannot load your remaining verification lookups, the error notification shown in place of the lookup table includes a trace ID; see Trace IDs.

Step 1: Open Manage Licenses

  1. Navigate to Setup > Installed Packages.
  2. Find AddressTools in the list.
  3. Click Manage Licenses.

Step 2: Add Users

  1. Click Add Users.
  2. Select the users who require access.
  3. Click Add.

The page shows how many licenses you have in total and how many remain unassigned, so you can check your available seats before assigning.

Note: If you have no licenses left to assign, contact sales@provenworks.com to add more seats.

API Enabled Requirement

Users who need the interactive address features (type-ahead search and address verification) also require the API Enabled permission on their Profile. This is standard on most Salesforce licenses, but may need to be enabled for certain user types.

Removing a License

If a user no longer needs AddressTools, remove their license to free the seat:

  1. Navigate to Setup > Installed Packages.
  2. Find AddressTools and click Manage Licenses.
  3. Click Remove next to the user.

Removing a license does not remove the user's Permission Set assignments. To revoke access fully, also remove those.
