Create an Address Label Field¶
Overview¶
Postal conventions differ between countries: what goes on each line, where the postal code sits, and which parts of the address are needed at all. In the United Kingdom, for example, a state is not part of the postal address. The address label is the address laid out correctly for the country it belongs to, returned as a single block of text.
If you send physical mail, the label gives you an address formatted correctly for the recipient's country, held in a single text area ready to print onto an envelope, a letter or any document that shows the address.
Step 1: Create the Field¶
- Navigate to Setup > Object Manager.
- Select the object, then select Fields & Relationships.
- Click New.
- Choose Text Area (Long) as the data type and click Next.
- Enter a Field Label naming the address it belongs to, for example

5. - Click Next.
- Provide visibility to all the users who will be verifying addresses, then click Next.
- Add the field to the page layouts where you want the label visible, then click Save.
Step 2: Map it on the Address Block¶
- Click the App Launcher to search for and select AddressTools Administration.
- Select Address Blocks from the left menu.
- Open the block for this address by using the dropdown to select Edit.
- In the Additional Address Fields section, set Address Label to the field you just created.
- Click Save.
When the Label Is Written¶
The address label is populated when verification returns a status of Verified. You can edit this field manually, and verifying a different address will overwrite it automatically.
The address label field is populated by address verification, so to fully enable this follow the setup steps in Verification.
